While grappling with laborious actions of ritual and repetition much of Lindsay-Snow's recent work engages
notions of mortality, cycle, and the temporal through the poetic gesture.
Through installation, performance and sculpture; and the use of multiples, process, the surreal, and uncanny:
Lindsay-Snow collaborates in moments of pause, re-centering, and questioning.
They see the process of making art as a practice of asking questions, research, and wonder.
Originally from a small town in Upstate New York, Lindsay-Snow has lived the last ten years in Chicago
where they obtained a Bachelor's of Arts in Conflict Transformation and in Art.
Lindsay-Snow is currently a MFA candidate at the University of Illinois Champaign Urbana in the studio arts.
"Curiosity and wonder are a beginning drive of my artistic practice and deeply affect the production of my work. Materially this results in laborious rituals of collecting, sorting, alternative cataloging and mapping. Conceptually, I am continuously filled with a swirling fury of questions and wonderings. Sometimes these questions prod feelings of excitement and adventure. Lately they produce a spiral seemingly without end or rest. The answer-lessness is a mire of sticky mud rather than a trampoline. As I am filled, with what seems to be only questions and frustrations, I continue to want to cover things in wax, make leaf dust, recede into a wall cocoon, hold gazes, write somber-ing poems, and gather sticks. I wonder if this is of coping, of suave, of mourning.
I wonder if this is of calming. I wonder if this is of distracting or rerooting or centering,
and always I wonder what, if anything this does for you?"
